Please tell us about what do you do and how long you have been doing it.
I began my career with the Ralph S. Alberts Co., Inc. at the age of 19.
How did you get into your career in manufacturing?
After being laid off from a seasonal job, I heard from an employee of RSA that they were hiring.
How would you describe a typical day at work?
I was initially hired as a laborer on first shift, painting in the foam molding department. Shortly thereafter, I was moved to a molder position on the third shift. Over the years, I’ve been involved in just about every aspect of our production — from research and development and hands-on manufacturing to coordinating and processing of sales orders.
In my current role, now 40 years old, I oversee the employees of our hand cast department, which produces parts for the amusement, military, and medical industries. Some days are more routine and production-based, while other days are filled with problem-solving — taking on each unique challenge and figuring out the best way to proceed — and those challenges are what keep my career interesting.
What do you love most about what you do for your job?
The thing I love most about my job is troubleshooting and problem-solving.
